Summer Sailor, Shanghai

There are many things one can say about sailor stripes but I will just say this: they are awesome.  So a real sailor is even more awesome - and a real sailor in Shanghai is just so unreal it’s borderline weird… But I’m glad I saw him.

Moulin Rouge - Costume

Feathers, lace, ruffles, glitter, more feathers… and lots of glue.  That pretty much summarizes last week, just to be brief.  I was helping designer Emma Wallace get some cabaret-esque costumes ready for a corporate event and boy was it intense!  Making hats is not as easy as it may seem, but I will tell you one thing: the hats that you see here would have withstood the Typhoon 8 signal that we were all anticipating this weekend…

Check out Emma Wallace’s blog here, or contact us on fotautomat@gmail.com to get some tailor-made costumes!

Fashion Project

I have had the privilege and opportunity to design the website for Fa Harrington, founder of Fashion Project.  Check it out here and let me know what you think!

Fa only wears clothes she made herself - that includes the bag.  Make your own at one of her courses (details on website).

Dong Liang Studio, Shanghai

I had the opportunity to meet the gorgeous Tasha of Dong Liang Studio who was kind enough to show me around her studio and recommend some hidden spots to shop in Shanghai.  I managed to get quite a few pieces from her (photos coming soon) as well as this amazing shot of her in her shoppe backyard.  She wears a vintage shirt from Lolo Vintage Shanghai (opening again in a few months).

From the back - Balloons

Taken outside the Red Cross, Shanghai.  Lots of parents with children in hospital robes seemed to gather on the streets here.  It seemed to me like they were spending some quality time together, as a family, on the sidewalk outside the hospital walls.

From the back - True Blue Blazer

There’s only one thing that’s better than a nicely dressed man and that’s two nicely dressed men. Both in checked blazers in the blazing heat and tailored trousers.  Love it.
